Enhancing the Aputure tunable white lighting range, the compact STORM 400x LED Monolight serves as a reliable point-source tool, combining a potent full-spectrum chipset with sophisticated dimming capabilities, exceptional color precision, a versatile Bowens mount, and durable, IP65-rated construction suitable for high-end production environments in any situation.
The BLAIR Chip Project
The STORM family of LED monolights showcases Aputure's innovative BLAIR chipset, which incorporates blue, lime, amber, indigo, and red LEDs that provide enhanced brightness and color accuracy. With a CRI and TLCI rating of 95, the STORM 400x light also achieves an SSI rating of 87 at color temperatures of 3200K and 5600K, while the multicolor diodes enhance the light's ability to match colors. The complete CCT range of 2500 to 10,000K is further improved with green-magenta color correction, allowing for superior white-point control. Additionally, the unit's daylight output at 5600K reaches 64,600 lux at a distance of 3.3 feet when utilized with the supplied 35° reflector.
Advanced Dimming and Connectivity
The STORM 400x is equipped with a controller that facilitates advanced dimming, control, and functionality. Stepless dimming ranges from 0.1 to 100%, ensuring flicker-free and color-accurate performance even at the lowest output of the light. Users can choose from both wired and wireless control options, which include various protocols such as DMX, LumenRadio CRMX, Art-Net, and sACN Ethernet, along with app control through Bluetooth and the Sidus Link and Sidus Link Pro applications to seamlessly incorporate the light into professional lighting workflows.
Build and Performance
The robust design of the light is rated IP65, ensuring resistance to dust and adverse weather conditions, which makes it ideal for operation in the most challenging environments. Additionally, the light is equipped with a Bowens S mount, enabling the STORM 400x to utilize a wide range of Bowens-compatible modifiers with straightforward attachment and secure locking.
