Utilize SMPTE 2110 IP video for media presentations with the 2110 IP Presentation Converter from Blackmagic Design. This converter is specifically engineered for speaker podiums, facilitating the connection of microphones and output to speakers while enabling video transmission to projectors via a computer or laptop through USB-C. The high-speed 10G video output can be employed to transmit video across Blackmagic's range of 2110 IP products.
The converter accommodates video resolutions up to DCI 4K60 and is equipped with 12G-SDI and HDMI input/output options for projectors. Audio capabilities include embedded audio across all I/O, balanced 3-pin XLR mic/line inputs, balanced 3-pin XLR output for public address speakers, and a 1/4" headphone output. Additionally, phantom power is available for the microphone inputs, and the device can also supply power to a laptop through its 45W interface.
Quick Features
- For podiums where speakers do presentations
- Connects switchers to computers, projectors, microphones, and PA systems
- HDMI and USB-C inputs for video and the 45W USB-C will power a laptop
- An HDMI output for a projector can be switched to the video input or the 2110 IP return feed
- XLR mic inputs and XLR audio out for PA speakers
- RJ-45 10G Ethernet video connection can power the whole converter via PoE, even while charging a USB computer
SMPTE-2110 IP Video Standard
Blackmagic 2110 IP products adhere to the SMPTE ST-2110 standard for IP video, which outlines the transport, synchronization, and description of 10-bit video, audio, and ancillary data across managed IP networks in broadcasting. These products are capable of re-synchronizing SDI inputs to a unified PTP clock, while external equipment can synchronize to the reference output produced by the PTP clock. Furthermore, Blackmagic 2110 IP products are compatible with SMPTE-2110-20 for uncompressed video, SMPTE-2110-21 for traffic shaping and timing, SMPTE-2110-30 for audio, and SMPTE-2110-40 for ancillary data. Additionally, these products facilitate multicast, providing an effective method for distributing video, audio, and data from a single source to multiple endpoints.
10G Ethernet
Blackmagic 2110 IP Converters are offered in configurations featuring RJ-45 connectors for straightforward Cat 6 copper cables or SFP sockets for optical fiber modules and cables. Utilizing Cat 6 copper cables allows for the construction of SMPTE-2110 systems at significantly reduced costs. These cables are uncomplicated, and 10G Ethernet switches are widely available. In many instances, contemporary buildings are already equipped with 10G Ethernet cabling, enabling the use of existing infrastructure. Additionally, copper cables have the capability to provide remote power to devices such as converters and cameras. There are also variants designed for optical fiber Ethernet. The cost of optical fiber operating at 10G is considerably lower than that of 25G or 40G Ethernet. Furthermore, it is possible to utilize 3G-, 6G-, or 12G-SDI modules.
Easy to Install
One of the primary challenges associated with SMPTE-2110 is the necessity of having an IT technician readily available to ensure the smooth operation of video systems. The Blackmagic 2110 IP converters address this issue by enabling direct point-to-point connections, thereby eliminating the need for a complex Ethernet switch if desired. This configuration allows users to benefit from SMPTE-2110 IP video using straightforward Ethernet cables, along with remote power and bidirectional video capabilities. The setup resembles a traditional SDI workflow, where cameras can be connected to rack converters, facilitating comprehensive camera control, program video, power, and tally through a single cable. Additionally, an HDMI converter can be linked to a rack converter to support remote monitoring.
