Canon EOS RP Mirrorless Digital Camera | Body Only

Impressively small despite having a large full-frame sensor, the Canon EOS RP offers flexible imaging capabilities along with a portable form factor. Featuring a high-resolution 26.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor along with a DIGIC 8 image processor, both stills and UHD 4K video can be recorded using a broad sensitivity range, from ISO 100-40000, to suit working in a variety of lighting conditions. Continuous shooting is also supported at up to 5 fps for photographing moving subjects. The sensor also facilitates an advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF system, with 4779 selectable on-sensor phase-detection points for quickly and accurately acquiring focus during stills and video operation.

Complementing the sensor and processor, the RP also sports a 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder along with a rear 3.0" 1.04m-dot vari-angle touchscreen LCD monitor for easier viewing from high and low angles. Additionally, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth allow for wireless remote camera control along with direct image sharing to linked mobile devices.

Canon RF Lens Mount

The EOS RP is equipped with the RF lens mount, which accommodates Canon's range of RF-mount lenses. This mount is distinguished by its broad 54mm diameter and a short flange-back distance of 20mm, facilitating the creation of lenses that are both more compact and faster than their SLR counterparts. Additionally, the mount features a 12-pin electronic contact system, enhancing autofocus and image stabilization functionalities. Furthermore, this mount design allows for complete compatibility with current EF and EF-S-mount lenses through the use of an optional EF-EOS R Mount Adapter.

26.2MP Full-Frame CMOS Sensor and DIGIC 8 Image Processor

The EOS RP is equipped with a substantial 26.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor, which provides an optimal combination of high-resolution output, excellent low-light performance, and rapid shooting capabilities. When combined with the DIGIC 8 image processor, this camera offers an extensive native sensitivity range of ISO 100-40000, making it suitable for diverse lighting environments. Furthermore, it allows for continuous shooting at a rate of up to 5 frames per second, facilitating the capture of dynamic subjects.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF

Dual Pixel CMOS AF provides a rapid and seamless focusing experience akin to that of a camcorder. This technology employs two distinct photodiodes in each pixel, creating an extensive and dense network of phase-detection elements that span a significant portion of the image sensor. This design minimizes focus hunting, allowing for quicker and more precise focus adjustments. In the context of still photography, this system excels at quickly and accurately achieving focus, making it particularly effective for capturing and tracking moving subjects, ensuring that critical focus is maintained in every shot. For video recording, the Movie Servo AF mode facilitates smooth and natural transitions in focus when shifting between various subjects or distances within a scene. It also allows users to adjust tracking sensitivity, autofocus speed, and prioritize Face or Eye Tracking. The Touch AF feature enhances the user experience by enabling intuitive rack focus adjustments through simple touches on the touchscreen. Furthermore, the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system enhances subject tracking in video, adeptly recognizing subjects and sustaining focus even in dynamic or cluttered environments. Notably, this focus system operates effectively in low-light conditions, with sensitivity down to EV -5, ensuring accurate autofocus performance.

UHD 4K Video Recording

Designed for multimedia image-maker, the EOS RP supports UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution recording at up to 23.98 fps at 120 Mb/s, along with Full HD 1080p and HD 720p at 60 fps for slow motion playback. When recording in-camera, 4K video has 4:2:0 sampling and 8-bit color depth, and 4:2:2 8-bit output is possible when using an external recorder.

Audio can be recorded using the on-board stereo microphone or an optional external mic can also be used via the 3.5mm mic jack.

Also, 5-axis Dual Sensing IS can be used when recording video to electronically reduce the appearance of camera shake for sharper, smoother recording.

Canon's EOS Webcam Utility software enhances the functionality of your camera, allowing it to serve as a multifunctional webcam simply by connecting it to a computer through USB. This software is compatible with numerous streaming applications, such as ZOOM, YouTube Live, Microsoft Teams, and others, while also enabling internal recording during live streaming sessions.
