Canon's RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM is the lightest and most compact 70-200mm f/2.8 lens to date, designed for enhanced travel convenience with its portable and easy-to-carry structure. The bright f/2.8 constant maximum aperture ensures uniform illumination across the zoom range, making it ideal for low-light environments and offering greater control over depth of field for selective focus applications. The lens features a rounded nine-blade diaphragm that enhances bokeh quality. Additionally, both the front and rear elements are treated with a protective Fluorine coating, which helps resist fingerprints and smudges, simplifying the cleaning process. To enhance clarity and color fidelity, the lens incorporates one Ultra-Low Dispersion (UD) element and one Super UD element to reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing. Furthermore, two aspherical elements are included to correct spherical aberrations and distortion, resulting in improved sharpness and accurate image rendering. An Air Sphere Coating (ASC) has also been applied to the lens elements to minimize backlit flaring and ghosting, ensuring optimal light transmission and high contrast even in challenging lighting situations.
