This lens was designed with smaller APS-C sensors in mind, and when attached onto a full frame EOS R camera, automatically enables the 1.6x crop mode. It offers 100% x 100% Dual Pixel CMOS AF coverage for APS-C sensors, and 80% x 80% Dual Pixel CMOS AF coverage for Full Frame sensors (in crop mode). Delivering remarkable performance for everyday use, the lead screw-type stepping motor (STM) helps ensure smooth autofocus and quiet operation, letting you capture videos with great audio and minimal background noise so you won't distract your subject in a quiet photo environment. Optical Image Stabilization provides up to 4.5 stops of correction, and up to 6.5 stops with Coordinated IS. This advanced image stabilization can result in sharper photos with minimal blur, even in low light situations. For landscapes, portraits, sports, videos and everything in between, the RF-S18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM provides great versatility with its magnificent optics, comprehensive zoom range and flexible design.
The RF-S18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM packs a poweful zoom range and a bright maximum aperture into a well-balanced lens that was designed with APS-C sensors in mind. The two aspheric elements help reduce chromatic aberration throughout the zoom range for excellent image quality with high resolution and contrast, and the Canon Super Spectra Coating helps ensure outstanding color balance while minimizing ghosting and flare. You can capture amazingly clear and steady results while shooting handheld photos or videos, even in low-light situations, and when combined with an EOS R Series camera with an In-Body Image Stabilizer, you can experience the additional benefits of even more shake correction.
The RF-S18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM lens uses a gear-type stepping motor to provide smooth and quiet autofocus when shooting both still and video, so focusing appears seamless while following a subject with Servo AF, or Movie Servo AF. Capture amazing shots wherever you are and whatever your subject, even at a close distance of 6.9 inches at a maximum magnification of 0.59x, making this not just an ideal lens for everyday casual shooting but for more intricate shots like food and smaller subjects you really want to show off.
