Enhancements in the Action 4's design include a larger sensor with increased megapixels, a new 10-bit D-Log M color mode, and an upgraded microSD slot that accommodates larger memory cards.

The camera is equipped with a 1/1.3" sensor, enabling it to record video at UHD 4K120 resolution and to capture experiences with dynamic and smooth detail. Its super-wide 155° field of view guarantees that all action remains within the frame. The 10-bit D-Log M color mode offers more than one billion colors and an expanded dynamic range, resulting in vibrant footage.

The color temperature sensor of the Action 4 adeptly modifies white balance and automatic exposure settings to ensure precise color accuracy, even in challenging lighting conditions such as those encountered during scuba or free diving at significant depths. Additionally, it can be synchronized with the DJI Mimo app to enhance detail rendering while underwater.

Furthermore, the HorizonBalancing feature can be activated, allowing for horizontal tilt correction within ±45° and enabling the recording of stable 4K60 videos.

The 1.4-inch front display is designed for convenience in vlogging and capturing selfies, while also accommodating standard touch control features. Users no longer need to rotate the camera for adjusting settings, switching modes, or reviewing videos. The user interface automatically adjusts when the camera is shifted between horizontal and vertical positions. Additionally, the touchscreens are sufficiently responsive to allow for easy operation even with wet hands.
