DJI RS 4 Mini Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer
Tailored specifically for mirrorless cameras, the DJI RS 4 Mini Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer is a lightweight, single-handed stabilizer capable of supporting a maximum payload of 4.4 lb. This gimbal, designed for one-handed use, employs the DJI RS stabilization algorithm to improve its performance. Weighing only 2 lb, it can record smooth video for as long as 13 hours, powered by its integrated 3100mAh battery, and is complemented by a detachable extended grip/tripod.
Mount a Camera or Smartphone
The RS 4 Mini, which is lightweight, provides a payload capacity of 4.4 lb, easily accommodating setups such as the Sony a7 series mirrorless camera paired with a 24-70 mm f/2.8 GM II lens, in addition to vLog cameras like the Sony ZV series. When used alongside DJI Mic series microphones, fill lights, and various other accessories, it maintains the ability for fluid camera movements.
Additionally, you can swiftly transition to a smartphone stabilizer by utilizing the new Phone Holder.
Quick Auto-Axis Locks
The RS 4 Mini incorporates auto-axis locks that were previously available on DJI's top-tier gimbals. These locks enable the three axes to automatically unlock when powered on and to lock again when powered off or in sleep mode. This enhancement accelerates the processes of filming, transitioning, and storage. Additionally, the storage design has been improved, allowing the axis arms to fold more flatly to conserve space. When paired with the automated axis locks, the gimbal can be swiftly stored with just a button press, facilitating easy packing into a bag for convenient transport.
Fast Vertical Switch
The gimbal provides the quickest transition between horizontal and vertical shooting within the RS series. To transition to vertical shooting, just loosen and press the single-side knob, detach the gimbal's horizontal plate, rotate it by 90°, and then secure it back in position.
This entire process can be completed in about 10 seconds, allowing for a rapid switch to vertical videos, which is ideal for capturing content on mobile phones for social media platforms.
Easy Balancing
The RS 4 Mini has undergone careful enhancements, incorporating Teflon interlayers that were previously utilized in DJI's top-tier gimbals, which minimizes friction and facilitates smoother balancing. The newly introduced fine-tuning knob on the tilt axis enables the camera to be adjusted forward or backward, allowing for precise balancing at the millimeter level.
The upper quick release plate features three positioning slots, providing the flexibility to select various installation positions according to your camera, thus offering increased balancing space. Additionally, when it is necessary to detach the camera from the gimbal and subsequently reattach it, this feature also assists in memory retention for swift repositioning without compromising the balance.
Wireless Recording and Zoom
Following the Bluetooth pairing process, you can initiate and halt recording on your camera or phone directly through the gimbal's record button, eliminating the inconvenience of using a cable release. The newly introduced zoom control feature enables you to manage Power Zoom for PZ lenses and Clear Image Zoom effortlessly by pressing the joystick, facilitating easy one-handed operation.
A camera requires pairing only once, after which it can reconnect effortlessly and automatically.
Upgraded UI
The OLED touchscreen now presents icons with greater clarity and operates more seamlessly. Additional gimbal status prompts have been incorporated, and while adjusting parameters, you can precisely modify values directly with the front dial.
When utilizing the touchscreen auto-lock function, the display will show the current gimbal and joystick modes at a reduced brightness level to avoid unintentional touches and assist in conserving battery life.
Intelligent Tracking and Composition
The RS Intelligent Tracking Module serves as a new universal accessory designed for RS 4 series gimbals. It aids novice videographers in executing intelligent follow-filming and composition, ensuring that the human subject remains consistently positioned within the frame. This feature proves especially beneficial for orbit shots, backward tracking shots, and self-tracking from a stationary camera position when filming alone. The module is capable of tracking subjects up to 32.8 feet and operates effectively even in intricate scenes, such as those involving multiple individuals. In instances where the subject temporarily exits the frame, the gimbal is able to locate and resume following the subject once again.
The installation of the module is facilitated through a magnetic quick release design that attaches to the tilt axis, guaranteeing a secure mounting.
Shooting Modes
The RS 4 Mini can switch between a variety of shooting modes:
-
Responsive mode: Use hand gestures to start/stop, suitable for creating fast orbit shots.
-
Smooth follow mode: For smoothing out follow shots and parallel tracking.
-
Horizontal mode and a vertical view for social media without the need for additional accessories.
-
Upright mode: Standard mode for walking or running shots.
-
Underslung mode: The gimbal flips so your camera hangs for low-angle and tracking shots.
-
Flashlight mode: The camera can be held forward like a flashlight to shoot in confined spaces.
-
Briefcase mode: This makes it easier for low-angle shots using the optional briefcase handle.
Updated Stabilization
The enhanced fourth-generation RS Stabilization algorithm achieves an equilibrium between stabilization power and the tactile sensation of camera motion, providing outstanding performance alongside an improved user experience.
It also presents markedly better stability for vertical shooting, effortlessly stabilizing dynamic scenes such as running or low-angle views. The gimbal is fine-tuned for compatibility with a range of cameras, automatically adjusting motor strength to suit various situations.
Built-In Extended-Life Battery
The charging speed and battery longevity have improved by 30% in comparison to the earlier version of the RS Mini. With a maximum operating time of 13 hours, it delivers sufficient power for filming throughout the day.
Additionally, it features fast charging capabilities, allowing for 5 hours of usage with only a 30-minute charge. The device reaches a full charge in under two hours when using the provided USB-C cable.
