FUJIFILM has enhanced the retro aesthetics and ergonomics of the rangefinder-inspired X100 series with its highly anticipated fifth version. The newly released X100VI Mirrorless Camera boasts a sophisticated, compact, and touch-responsive design, now equipped with the advanced speed, power, and pixel resolution of its premier APS-C sensor and processor combination. With exceptional design and a multitude of technological upgrades, the X100VI is set to become the preferred choice for photographers seeking to elevate the ordinary into the extraordinary.
40MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HR Sensor, X-Processor 5
The advanced 40.2MP X-Trans CMOS 5 HR sensor features a refined image-processing algorithm that enhances resolution while maintaining an optimal signal-to-noise ratio, resulting in exceptional image quality. This sensor incorporates an upgraded pixel architecture that improves light reception efficiency. Complementing the newly developed sensor is the X-Processor 5, which employs 64-bit processing to achieve three times the speed for both video and photographic applications. The synergy between this high-resolution sensor and processor facilitates remarkably swift performance, an extensive dynamic range, and outstanding image quality, even at elevated ISO settings.
Powerful Video Capabilities
The powerful video capabilities provided by the sensor-processor combination enable internal recording of films at resolutions reaching 6.2K at 30 frames per second in 10-bit color. Additionally, there is a 4K HQ mode that oversamples 6.2K footage to deliver enhanced 4K output. Furthermore, options for higher frame rate recordings are available, including 4K at 60 frames per second and Full HD at 240 frames per second.
In-Body Image Stabilization, Improved Autofocus
The enhanced sensor-processor integration enables the X100VI to become the inaugural model in its series to incorporate in-body image stabilization. The five-axis sensor-shift IBIS significantly reduces the effects of camera shake by as much as six stops. Additionally, the advancements in processing contribute to improved autofocus capabilities, resulting in a quicker and more sophisticated hybrid focusing system that utilizes 425 phase-detection points. Supported by deep learning, an AI adaptive algorithm enhances this focusing system's ability to automatically identify and track various subject types, ensuring that no pivotal moment goes unnoticed.
Built for Speed, Built for the Street
The X100VI offers significant advantages for street photographers, ensuring it is always prepared for quick-moving subjects. With an impressive electronic shutter speed of 1/180,000 sec and a maximum mechanical shutter speed of 1/4000 sec, it can effectively freeze any action. By holding down the shutter button, the X100VI captures images at a remarkable 20 fps using the electronic shutter with a 1.29x crop, and 11 fps with the mechanical shutter.
Fujinon 23mm f/2 Lens
The fifth generation of the camera has seen an update to the Fujinon 23mm f/2 lens, which now boasts an enhanced optical design featuring two aspherical elements. This improvement significantly enhances sharpness and clarity by minimizing spherical aberrations and distortion. With a full-frame equivalent of 35mm, the lens's bright f/2 aperture excels in low-light situations and allows for a shallow depth of field. Additionally, in bright conditions, the integrated 4-stop ND filter provides greater control over exposure, facilitating the use of shallow depth of field. Although the lens has a fixed focal length, the X100VI incorporates 1.4x and 2x digital teleconverter options, effectively mimicking the characteristics of longer focal lengths of 49mm and 70mm, respectively.
Advanced Hybrid Viewfinder
The innovative Advanced Hybrid Viewfinder combines both optical and electronic viewfinder technologies, allowing users to choose between the straightforwardness of an OVF and the adaptability of an EVF. The optical viewfinder offers a vivid, realistic perspective of the scene, facilitating easier composition and subject tracking. Its improved design features an Electronic Rangefinder function that replicates the capabilities of a mechanical rangefinder, while also superimposing data from the electronic viewfinder onto the optical viewfinder for enhanced manual focus comparison.
Film Simulation Modes
Film Simulation modes allow you to reproduce the look and feel of several of FUJIFILM's film types. The X100VI boasts FUJIFILM's latest recipe-REALA ACE-and also includes 19 other modes, including Provia, Velvia, Astia, Classic Chrome, PRO Neg.Std, PRO Neg. Hi, Classic Neg., Nostalgic Neg., Eterna Cinema, Eterna Bleach Bypass, Acros, Acros + Ye Filter, Acros + R Filter, Acros + G Filter, Black & White, Black & White + Ye Filter, Black & White + R Filter, Black & White + G Filter, and Sepia.
In addition to simulating specific film types, a Grain Effect mode is also available to replicate the look of old film photos with an organic textured appearance, which is especially noticeable when printing. Color Chrome and Color Chrome Blue effects are also available to deepen color, tonal response, and gradation with higher saturation colors.
Frame.io Camera-to-Cloud integration
Transfer photos or videos directly to the cloud immediately after creation with the pioneering accessory-free integration for Frame.io Camera to Cloud. Utilize the camera's integrated Wi-Fi or Ethernet LAN connection to link with Frame.io, allowing for the delivery of high-resolution raw or JPEG images, the transmission of h.264 video proxies, or the secure upload of video for review.
