Harman Red 125 is a unique film designed specifically for redscale photography enthusiasts. When you expose your image through the film's base and its red-sensitive layer, you achieve striking shades of red, orange, and yellow, effectively eliminating nearly all blue tones and highlighting deep, pronounced shadows. This 35mm film features a medium ISO speed of 125, a transparent base, lacks an anti-halation layer, and boasts high red sensitivity, resulting in an almost flawless emulsion that minimizes speed loss.
Exposure
Overexposure will typically give finer grain and more dominant orange and red tones. Under exposure will show more greens, coarser grain, and prominent shadows:
- Underexposure – Coarser grain, prominent shadows, and subtle greens.
- Normal exposure – Normal grain, stronger orange tones, and softer shadows.
- Overexposure – Finer grain, higher contrast, and dominant red/orange tonalities.
Scanning
Harman Red should be processed in C41/CN16 processing chemicals. No processing adjustment is required for bracketed exposures.
- Unlike standard colour films, the emulsion layer on redscale films is on the reverse. Therefore, for best results when the orientation of the emulsion can be easily reversed by using a reloadable cartridge if necessary.
- Can be easily scanned on a range of commercial scanners.
- With other C41 process films, Digital Image Correction and Enhancement (Digital ICE) can be used to remove dust and scratches automatically from the image.
