The black Leica SL2 seamlessly combines elegance with versatile imaging capabilities, representing the second generation of the SL camera series. It integrates impressive photographic and videographic features within a sophisticated design. Equipped with a 47.3MP full-frame CMOS sensor and the Maestro III image processor, it delivers rapid and smooth performance, allowing for continuous shooting at up to 20 frames per second, 6 frames per second with autofocus in continuous mode, and the ability to record 5K video at 30 frames per second, as well as DCI 4K video at 60 frames per second with 10-bit color sampling. The sensor also includes a Leica Object Detection autofocus system, which offers 225 selectable autofocus areas for swift and precise focusing. Additionally, a 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilization system enhances both photographic and videographic endeavors by reducing the effects of camera shake, resulting in sharper images during handheld shooting.

In addition to enhanced imaging capabilities, the SL2 boasts a redesigned body that incorporates a new 5.76 million-dot EyeRes OLED electronic viewfinder and a spacious 3.2-inch touchscreen LCD with a resolution of 2.1 million dots. It also includes a top status LCD for immediate visibility of shooting settings, along with dual SD memory card slots that are compatible with UHS-II for versatile file storage options. Furthermore, integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth functionalities facilitate wireless file transfer and remote control of the camera through the Leica FOTOs application.

Object Detection Autofocus System

The Leica SL2 features a sophisticated contrast-detect autofocus system that includes capabilities for face and body detection, enabling it to effectively track moving subjects while ensuring precise accuracy. The Intelligent-AF (iAF) function allows for focusing on stationary subjects, initiating tracking as soon as they exhibit movement. Additionally, users have the option to customize the focusing settings to refine the tracking behavior and tolerances according to their preferences.

47.3MP Full-Frame CMOS Sensor and Maestro III Processor

The SL2 is equipped with a full-frame 47.3MP CMOS sensor and the Maestro III image processor, which enhance its imaging performance for high-resolution recording. It boasts impressive sensitivity, a broad 14-stop dynamic range, and versatile recording options. The sensor is designed without a low-pass filter to ensure maximum sharpness and resolution. When combined with the Maestro processor, noise levels are effectively minimized across the sensitivity spectrum, ranging from ISO 50 to 50000. Additionally, the processing capabilities allow for rapid full-resolution continuous shooting at speeds of up to 20 fps with an electronic shutter, 10 fps with a mechanical shutter, and 6 fps with a mechanical shutter in AF-C mode, enabling the capture of up to 78 consecutive DNG files.

5K and 4K Video Recording

In addition to its capabilities for still photography, the SL2 serves as a proficient video camera, capable of recording in resolutions up to 5K (4992 x 3744) with 10-bit color depth. It supports various formats, including DCI, UHD 4K, and Full HD. The camera also features high-speed recording options, allowing for UHD 4K at 60 frames per second with 30 fps playback, and Full HD at 180 frames per second with 30 fps playback, enabling slow-motion effects of 2x and 6x, respectively.

To enhance video quality, the SL2 includes a specialized Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) Photo Style mode and an L-Log gamma profile, which facilitate the preservation of highlight and shadow details, thereby providing increased flexibility during the color grading process. Furthermore, it is possible to record to an optional external recorder through the HDMI Type A port, and the camera is equipped with dedicated 3.5mm jacks for connecting an external microphone and headphones.

Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization

To attain the highest level of sharpness in handheld photography, the 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilization effectively counteracts various types of movement, resulting in sharper and clearer images.

Incorporating sensor-shift stabilization technology, the SL2 is equipped with a Multishot mode that captures and combines eight distinct exposures to generate a single 187MP raw or JPEG file. This mode is ideal for static subjects and tripod use, yielding an image that is significantly more detailed and color-accurate than what a single exposure can achieve, with a resolution of 16736 x 11168 pixels.

Body Design
