It features a substantial 20.1MP 1" CMOS sensor, enabling the capture of high-resolution still images and UHD 4K video, with a broad sensitivity range suitable for various lighting environments. The advanced sensor and processing technologies facilitate rapid autofocus and allow for continuous full-resolution shooting at 12 frames per second, as well as 4K Photo capture at 30 frames per second.

In terms of its photographic and videographic prowess, the V-Lux 5 is particularly notable for its remarkable DC Vario-Elmarit ASPH. zoom lens, which spans a focal length equivalent of 25-400mm, covering both wide-angle and super-telephoto perspectives. The camera's ergonomic design, reminiscent of an SLR, includes a 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder and a 3.0" 1.24m-dot articulating touchscreen LCD. Furthermore, integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities enable seamless wireless image sharing and remote camera control via a connected smartphone or tablet using the Leica FOTOS app.

The remarkable 16x zoom DC Vario-Elmarit ASPH. lens provides a focal length range equivalent to 25-400mm, complemented by a maximum aperture range of f/2.8-4, making it ideal for use in available light situations. This lens features a design that includes multiple aspherical elements, which effectively reduce spherical aberrations and distortions across the entire zoom range, resulting in enhanced sharpness and clarity.

4K Video and 4K Photo Modes

The sensor and processor combination also enables 4K video recording at 30p in the MP4 format at 100 Mb/s. These 4K capabilities also permit recording 8MP stills at 30 fps in a trio of ways:

• 4K Burst: Just as with video recording, this mode will allow you to continuously record 8MP images at 30 fps for up to 15 minutes, making it ideal for instances where you need a fast frame rate in order to capture the best moment.
  
  
• 4K Pre-Burst: This mode is ideal for times when you're unsure of the critical moment to press the shutter button and will record 8MP images at 30 fps one second prior to and one second after pressing the shutter button in order to give you 60 frames to choose from.
  
  
• 4K Burst (S/S): This mode most closely follows the 4K video recording process, and allows you to playback your video, pause at the chosen moment, and use the shutter button to mark a chosen frame from the video and save it as a single 8MP frame.
  
  

Post Focus and Focus Stacking

An additional feature of the 4K capabilities is a distinctive focusing technique known as Post Focus. This method operates in tandem with the contrast-detection focusing system, capturing images as 4K MP4 files at 30 frames per second. It adjusts the focal point throughout the burst shooting sequence, providing a selection of various focusing ranges. During playback, users can utilize the camera's touchscreen to select the desired area of focus, resulting in the creation of an 8MP JPEG file. From the original burst, multiple individual files with different focal points can be generated, and focusing assist functions can further enhance control over the precise area in focus.

This technology also facilitates the creation of focus-stacked images directly within the camera, allowing for an increased depth of field, particularly beneficial for close-up photography. In this mode, images are captured and saved with different focal points, which are subsequently blended to achieve a greater depth of field.

Body Design and Wireless Connectivity

• High-resolution 2.36m-dot, 0.74x-magnification electronic viewfinder is integrated into the body design to permit comfortable eye-level monitoring.
  
  
• Alternatively, a rear 3.0" 1.24m-dot touchscreen LCD monitor is also available for live view shooting, image review, and intuitive menu navigation.
