Leica 10x42 Ultravid HD-Plus Binoculars

Building upon the achievements of the original Ultravid HD, Leica's 10x42 Ultravid HD-Plus Binoculars incorporate advanced technologies and materials to produce an optical instrument that offers bright and clear images throughout the entire field of view. The HD-Plus binoculars provide improved contrast and true color accuracy, exhibiting virtually no distortion, even in low-light situations. To help mitigate the visually distracting hand shake that often accompanies the use of 10x and higher magnification optics, a wide 63° apparent viewing angle is included. This feature enables the use of high-magnification binoculars without the necessity for stabilization equipment such as harnesses or tripods.

Leica has enhanced the glass by utilizing specially formulated SCHOTT HT glass, which boosts light transmission, particularly in the blue-violet light spectrum, enhances color fidelity, and improves performance in low-light conditions. The outer lenses are protected by a scratch- and abrasion-resistant High Durable Coating (HDC) and a hydrophobic AquaDura coating, which causes water and oil to bead off, facilitating easier cleaning and clearer vision. The roof prisms are equipped with P40 phase correction and proprietary High Lux System (HLS) coatings, which effectively eliminate chromatic aberration, resulting in improved color rendition and increased contrast.

In addition to the optical excellence, the binoculars feature uncompromising construction details. To minimize user fatigue during extended viewing sessions, the chassis is crafted from a lightweight yet robust magnesium alloy, complemented by a titanium center hinge axle. The optical tubes are filled with nitrogen to ensure fogproof performance and are sealed to allow the binoculars to be submersible up to 16.4 feet or 0.5 bar of pressure. Ergonomic thumb indents located on the bottom of the binoculars, along with protective rubber armoring, provide a comfortable, slip-resistant grip. A lubrication-free focus system enables rapid and precise focusing, utilizing PETP-Discs to ensure smooth movement across a wide operating temperature range.
