Through the integration of RED color science and Nikon engineering, the Nikon ZR 6K Cinema Camera emerges as a groundbreaking device crafted to produce breathtaking cinematic visuals within a single compact unit. This small Z-mount cinema camera enables the use of various lenses, while its internal stabilization ensures a smooth and steady image with over 15 stops of dynamic range. Notable features encompass 32-bit float audio, sophisticated autofocus, dual-base ISO, and the capability to capture video at up to 6K60 in REDCODE, Z-RAW, or ProRes RAW.

Nikon + RED Color Science

The collaboration between Nikon and RED ensures extensive compatibility with various production workflows, featuring the REDCODE RAW R3D recording format alongside Nikon's N-RAW, ProRes RAW HQ/422 HQ, and the superior compressed H.264 and H.265 codecs. REDCODE RAW (R3D NE) provides access to the same color space (REDWideGamutRGB) and Log curve (Log3G10) utilized by RED cameras. The camera is capable of capturing resolutions of up to 6K60, 4K120, and even 1080p240, facilitating high frame rate and slow-motion recording.

Audio Capture

The ZR records high-quality audio with dynamic 32-bit float and 24-bit recording capabilities, while also supporting standard 48 kHz linear PCM to ensure full compatibility with video.

It is equipped with built-in configurable microphones, a line input that enables recording with an external microphone, and a digital accessory shoe on the camera that can accommodate microphones like the ME-D10 shotgun or the H2315 shoe mic attachment. Additionally, a headphone jack is provided for audio monitoring.

Recording and Output

The camera captures footage onto a CFexpress Type B card slot, which is accessible via the battery door, ensuring the camera remains compact and portable. Additionally, a microSD card slot is provided for proxy recording. Furthermore, there is a micro-HDMI output that enables connection to a display or recording device.

Advanced Autofocus

Nikon's sophisticated autofocus capability is driven by deep learning technology, enabling detection of up to 9 subjects with automatic tracking for individuals, animals, and vehicles.

The ZR features built-in image stabilization compatible with any prime or zoom lens, offering up to 7.5 stops for smooth and stable image capture.
