Nikon ZR Cinema Camera with 35mm f/1.4 Lens Kit
Through the integration of RED color science and Nikon engineering, the Nikon ZR 6K Cinema Camera emerges as a groundbreaking device crafted to produce breathtaking cinematic visuals within a single compact unit. This small Z-mount cinema camera enables the use of various lenses, while its internal stabilization ensures a smooth and steady image with over 15 stops of dynamic range. Notable features encompass 32-bit float audio, sophisticated autofocus, dual-base ISO, and the capability to capture video at up to 6K60 in REDCODE, Z-RAW, or ProRes RAW.
Nikon + RED Color Science
The collaboration between Nikon and RED ensures extensive compatibility with various production workflows, featuring the REDCODE RAW R3D recording format alongside Nikon's N-RAW, ProRes RAW HQ/422 HQ, and the superior compressed H.264 and H.265 codecs. REDCODE RAW (R3D NE) provides access to the same color space (REDWideGamutRGB) and Log curve (Log3G10) utilized by RED cameras. The camera is capable of capturing resolutions of up to 6K60, 4K120, and even 1080p240, facilitating high frame rate and slow-motion recording.
Audio Capture
The ZR records high-quality audio with dynamic 32-bit float and 24-bit recording capabilities, while also supporting standard 48 kHz linear PCM to ensure full compatibility with video.
It is equipped with built-in configurable microphones, a line input that enables recording with an external microphone, and a digital accessory shoe on the camera that can accommodate microphones like the ME-D10 shotgun or the H2315 shoe mic attachment. Additionally, a headphone jack is provided for audio monitoring.
Recording and Output
The camera captures footage onto a CFexpress Type B card slot, which is accessible via the battery door, ensuring the camera remains compact and portable. Additionally, a microSD card slot is provided for proxy recording. Furthermore, there is a micro-HDMI output that enables connection to a display or recording device.
Advanced Autofocus
Nikon's sophisticated autofocus capability is driven by deep learning technology, enabling detection of up to 9 subjects with automatic tracking for individuals, animals, and vehicles.
Large, Bright Display
The integrated 4" variable-angle touchscreen display boasts a DCI-P3 color gamut, a brightness of 1000 cd/m², and a resolution of 3.07 million dots, allowing for effortless viewing of your controls and footage.
The display is capable of automatically rotating when switching from horizontal to vertical orientation.
Custom LUTs
The camera provides the ability for the operator to load up to 10 LUTs into the camera for real-time preview on its display.
Lenses and Image Stabilization
The standard Z lens mount enables the use of the complete range of NIKKOR Z lenses, as well as a diverse selection of third-party lenses and lens mount adapters. The ZR features built-in image stabilization compatible with any prime or zoom lens, offering up to 7.5 stops for smooth and stable image capture.
Additional Features
- The ZR offers enhanced ISO sensitivity through its dual-base ISO, which supports 800/6400 for both Log3G10 and N-Log profiles.
- The companion application for the camera enables you to enhance your workflow by linking the camera to your mobile device and leveraging the optional Frame.io cloud service, thereby simplifying asset management, post-production, and live streaming.
- The camera operates using a single EN-EL15c battery located in its battery compartment, or it can be powered through USB-C by utilizing an external power source, such as an optional power supply or a power bank.
Ultracompact Design
This compact camera resembles a small mirrorless camera in size, yet it incorporates advanced cinema camera technology. You can take this camera into various environments, attach it to a vehicle, stabilize it using a gimbal, or execute steadycam, drone, or POV shots - its lightweight design allows for versatility in nearly any setting.
Nikon NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4 Lens (Nikon Z)
Featuring a naturally wide field of view and a bright maximum aperture, the NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.4 Lens by Nikon serves as an ideal walkaround lens for storytellers. Its lightweight design makes it easy to transport, while providing low-light adaptability, a shallow depth of field, and exceptional edge-to-edge clarity for both photo and video uses in any setting.
- The naturally wide 35mm focal length is well-suited for the street, the salon, landscapes, and architectural subjects. It also excels as an avenue for environmental portraits and other documentary applications.
- The lens's fast, f/1.4 maximum aperture unlocks faster shutter speeds in low-light conditions and produces a painterly bokeh, transforming background objects into compositional elements.
- The minimum focusing distance of 10.6" allows users to get close to their subjects with sharp focus while still benefitting from selective focus techniques.
- The 9-blade diaphragm also contributes to the lens's bokeh effects while its optical design, featuring two aspherical elements, enables its smaller size and helps minimize distortions.
