Nikon Z50 II Mirrorless Camera with 16-50mm f/2.8 VR Lens Kit
The Nikon Z50 II Mirrorless Camera is a robust yet compact system designed for emerging creators. It features a 20.9MP APS-C CMOS sensor and an interchangeable lens mount, along with a range of premium features and compatibility with the complete NIKKOR Z lens collection, allowing you to enhance your content beyond what a smartphone can offer.
20.9MP DX-Format CMOS Sensor & EXPEED 7 Image Processor
The DX-format 20.9MP CMOS sensor is combined with the same EXPEED 7 image-processing engine that is utilized in its flagship, full-frame counterparts, offering a versatile blend of high sensitivity, refined image quality, rapid, AI-driven autofocus, and full-resolution continuous shooting capabilities of up to 30 fps. At its native settings, the sensitivity range spans from ISO 100 to 51200, allowing for operation in a wide variety of lighting situations, and it can be further extended to ISO 204800 for extremely low-light environments. This synergy of resolution and sensor size also enhances image quality, ensuring smooth color transitions while minimizing noise across the entire sensitivity spectrum.
Nikon's Most Advanced Autofocus
Utilizing advanced algorithms and deep learning technology derived from the Z9, which includes an intricate Subject Detection system for nine distinct subject categories, the Z50 II is capable of identifying a wide range of unique subjects, from humans and animals to airplanes and bicycles. Additionally, it features the widely acclaimed dedicated Bird Detection mode. In Auto-Area AF mode, these subjects are automatically identified, focused on, and tracked to maintain sharp focus as the subject moves across the frame.
Specifically, Eye-Detection AF has been optimized for enhanced precision and improved recognition of eyes within the scene. This feature can also be utilized alongside custom Wide-Area AF to accommodate various subject shapes and sizes.
Pre-Release Capture
The EXPEED 7 processor additionally enables Pre-Release Capture, a functionality that facilitates capturing decisive moments by recording frames in a burst for up to one second before the shutter is actually released. When this feature is engaged, burst shooting begins as soon as the shutter is half-pressed, and the buffer will hold the frames after the shutter is fully pressed.
UHD 4K Video Recording
The Z50 II is not only capable of capturing still images but has also enhanced its video recording features. It now supports UHD 4K video recording at a rate of up to 60 fps and Full HD recording at up to 120 fps. Furthermore, it includes a Product Review mode, allows recording durations of up to two hours, features a video self-timer, incorporates built-in electronic Vibration Reduction, and enables the saving of movie files to in-camera memory cards or an optional external recorder via HDMI output. The camera also supports in-camera time-lapse shooting, allowing users to create a finished UHD 4K video file directly from the device.
In a groundbreaking development for Nikon, the Z50 II is compliant with UAC and UAV standards for live web-streaming. Moreover, it is now possible to record 10-bit video internally using Nikon's N-Log LUT, along with the option to utilize four new RED LUTs as well.
Color Control for Creators
Nikon has introduced a Picture Control button on the Z50 II, allowing users to access its 31 built-in presets even while in Auto mode. The color presets can now be displayed on the rear LCD screen, enabling you to see the color changes as you create. Creator Recipes developed by other Nikon users are accessible via the Nikon Imaging Cloud and can be downloaded and incorporated with the presets. Furthermore, Nikon offers a one-year subscription to their Cloud Picture Controls software, allowing you to utilize your own presets with professional editing tools.
Body Design and Connectivity
- A large 3.2" LCD touchscreen is available for bright, clear, and vivid image playback and live view shooting. The screen has a 180° flip-out articulating design, which benefits front-facing selfie captures, and offers more intuitive operation, navigation, and settings control. The upgraded touchscreen now features the Touch FN option, which allows you to select the focus point with your fingertips.
- The improved electronic viewfinder was redesigned for increased comfort in eye-level viewing. Using NIKKOR optics to guarantee a sharp, clear image, it is now twice as bright as its predecessor.
- A built-in flash and a hot shoe allow you to introduce additional light into low-lit scenes, with a dedicated Night Portrait mode that optimizes a balanced exposure with available and additional light.
- A headphone jack has been added, doubling as a terminal for Nikon's newly released and optional MC-DC3 Remote Release Cord, and the USB-C terminal provides both camera charging and USB power delivery. The camera retains the microphone and HDMI ports of its predecessor.
- Built-in SnapBridge connectivity enables seamless transfer of low-resolution imagery as well as remote shooting capabilities. BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and Wi-Fi enable communication between the camera and a smart device, and the mobile device can remotely trigger the shutter to display a live view image from the camera for working from a distance.
- The included EN-EL25a rechargeable lithium-ion battery extends camera battery life, with in-camera charging also supported.
- Single SD memory card slot supports the UHS-II protocol for quickly storing photo and video files.
