  • 20.3MP Live MOS Micro Four Thirds Sensor
  • TruePic VIII Image Processor
  • UHD 4K30p Video Recording
  • 121-Point Contrast-Detection AF
  • 8.7 fps Shooting, ISO 200-25600

The OM-D E-M10 Mark IV is a sophisticated yet compact camera that integrates numerous advanced features and technologies from Olympus's premium line into its portable design. It is equipped with a 20.3MP Micro Four Thirds sensor and the TruePic VIII image processor, enabling UHD 4K video recording, a rapid continuous shooting speed of 8.7 frames per second, and a versatile ISO sensitivity range of 200-25600, making it suitable for various lighting environments. The camera's sensor also includes a 121-point contrast-detection autofocus system, utilizing subject detection algorithms derived from the E-M1 series, ensuring swift, precise, and intelligent focusing capabilities. Furthermore, it boasts a 5-axis sensor-shift image stabilization system that effectively compensates for approximately 4.5 stops of camera shake, enhancing the sharpness of handheld images.

Regarding its physical attributes, the E-M10 Mark IV is remarkably lightweight while featuring a generous 3.0" 1.04m-dot touchscreen LCD with a 180° tilting mechanism, facilitating shooting from elevated, lowered, or front-facing positions. For those who prefer eye-level composition, a 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder is available. Additionally, the camera is equipped with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, allowing for seamless connectivity to smartphones or tablets for instant wireless image sharing and remote control functionality from mobile devices.

20.3MP Live MOS Sensor and TruePic VIII Image Processor

The E-M10 Mark IV features a high-resolution 20.3MP Live MOS sensor paired with a TruePic VIII image processor, facilitating rapid shooting performance and a sensitivity range extending from ISO 200 to 25600. This combination is particularly effective for capturing dynamic subjects, allowing for continuous shooting at full resolution at speeds of up to 8.7 frames per second. In addition to still photography, the camera supports UHD 4K video recording at 30 fps, Full HD recording at 60 fps, and high-speed HD recording at 120 fps.

5-Axis Sensor-Shift Image Stabilization

The in-body, sensor-shift image stabilization technology significantly reduces the visibility of camera shake by as much as 4.5 stops, regardless of the lens employed. It effectively addresses camera movements that are particularly pronounced during telephoto photography, macro shots, and extended exposure times. Additionally, this sophisticated stabilization system operates across five axes, compensating for vertical and horizontal angle rotations, horizontal and vertical shifts, as well as rolling movements. This comprehensive detection of various movements enhances the quality of both still photography and video recording, particularly when capturing dynamic subjects.

121-Point Contrast-Detection AF and Subject Detection

The advanced autofocus system features 121 contrast-detection zones, ensuring enhanced precision and rapid focusing capabilities across diverse lighting environments and shooting scenarios. Designed to accommodate moving subjects, the continuous autofocus leverages the same subject-detection algorithm found in the sports-oriented E-M1X. Additionally, for portrait photography, it incorporates the same face and eye detection technologies as the E-M1 Mark III, allowing for accurate focus on profiles, lowered faces, or partially obscured faces. Furthermore, manual focusing is enhanced by the integration of MF assist tools, which include live view magnification and focus peaking.

Body Design and Connectivity

  • High-resolution 2.36m-dot electronic viewfinder is available for eye-level monitoring, and it offers a 0.67x maximum magnification for clear, distortion-free viewing.

  • Rear 3.0" 1.04m-dot LCD monitor features an 80° upward, 180° downward tilting design to support working from a variety of angles, including front-facing for perfectly framed selfies. The screen is also a touchscreen for intuitive menu navigation and image playback.

  • Included BLS-50 rechargeable lithium-ion battery is used to provide approximately 360 shots per charge.

  • In-camera battery charging is supported via the micro-USB port.

  • Single SD memory card slot is UHS-II compatible for fast read/write speeds.

  • Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth permits wireless image sharing and remote camera control from a linked smartphone or tablet when using the dedicated O.I.Share app for iOS and Android.

Shooting Modes

Live Composite is an innovative long exposure feature that enables the gradual accumulation of exposure over time while preventing the overexposure of significant elements within the composition. This mode selectively captures only newly identified light sources, allowing users to observe the progressive formation of an image, making it particularly effective for capturing star trails or other dynamic light phenomena.

The Live Bulb and Live Time settings facilitate the creation of artistic long exposure photographs. The Live Bulb function permits the shutter to remain open for a duration of up to one minute, while the Live Time option allows the user to initiate the exposure with a single press of the shutter button and subsequently close it by pressing again within the same minute.

Interval shooting is available for up to 999 frames, with exposure intervals ranging from 1 second to 24 hours.

Art Filters include: Pop Art, Soft Focus, Pale & Light Color, Light Tone, Grainy Film, Pin Hole, Diorama, Cross Process, Gentle Sepia, Dramatic Tone, Key Line, Watercolor, Vintage, Partial Color (18 Color), Bleach Bypass, and Instant Film.

Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 EZ Lens

The M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 EZ from Olympus is notable for its slim pancake design, making it a versatile zoom lens with a 28-84mm equivalent, specifically crafted for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras.
