The ProMaster 2551 is a coiled audio cable designed to facilitate the connection of a microphone or wireless receiver to a camera, camcorder, or similar device equipped with a 2.5mm TRS jack. While the majority of cameras and camcorders are compatible with a 3.5mm TRS audio jack, certain models, including some Fuji mirrorless cameras and various point-and-shoot cameras, utilize the smaller 2.5mm version. This discrepancy can pose challenges when attempting to use standard microphones with these devices. The ProMaster 2551 effectively addresses this issue by enabling the adaptation of any microphone featuring a standard 3.5mm TRS connection for use with cameras that require a 2.5mm connection.

Each end of the cable is fitted with a right-angle connector, and a small label is affixed near each end to indicate its primary function. One end is marked "Microphone," while the other is designated "Camera/Camcorder." The connectors are gold-plated to enhance resistance to corrosion. The cable measures 1 foot in length when relaxed, and its coiled design allows for an extension of up to 24 inches without excessive strain.
