Designed as a modular system that supports interchangeable capsules to accommodate a range of indoor and outdoor recording scenarios, the Shure VP89M medium shotgun microphone delivers a narrow 50° acceptance angle for moderate directionality with more off-axis pickup than the long VP89L. Lightweight and rugged, the VP89M provides reliable operation and low susceptibility to hum, GSM, and radio-frequency interference. The phantom-powered preamp features a switchable low-cut filter to attenuate problematic bass frequencies such as rumble and a standard XLR 3-pin output for straightforward connectivity. Outfitted with a Class-A, discrete, transformerless preamplifier, the VP89M delivers a clean and quick transient response with minimal harmonic/intermodulation distortion and no crossover distortion. Long and short capsule barrels are available separately to suit various recording needs, rejection angles, and frequency responses.
