If you have a Multi Interface compatible Sony Camera, the Sony ECM-W3 2-Person Wireless Microphone System is perfect for recording two subject interviews and vlogs. This system features two clip-on transmitters with built-in microphones and a dual-channel receiver with Multi Interface Shoe connection. It supports recording of both analog and digital audio signals in mixed or separate channels. The ultracompact receiver has integrated 3.5mm TRS and USB-C output ports and offers toggles for separate or mixed channel recording and for analog and digital output modes. Additionally, it has a toggle for safety track recording to safeguard against unexpected interruptions. The transmitter units also include an attenuator switch to prevent clipping.
Bluetooth Wireless Communication
The devices are able to connect to each other using the Bluetooth 5.3 low-energy LC3plus codec from distances of up to 492 feet. This codec allows for low power usage and minimal delay while still delivering excellent sound quality.
Multi Interface Shoe
The integrated Multi Interface Shoe on your receiver offers a seamless, cable-free connection to compatible Sony cameras. By attaching the receiver to the camera body, you can draw power directly from the camera, eliminating the need for external power sources. This setup ensures that audio is transmitted via a direct digital signal, maintaining high-quality sound without the risk of transmission deterioration. This streamlined connection is particularly beneficial for videographers and content creators seeking a reliable and efficient audio solution.
Digital Sound Recording
Digital MEMS microphones with a high signal-to-noise ratio are integrated into each transmitter to capture clear audio with minimal noise. To further enhance audio quality, the system includes built-in noise cut and low-cut filters. The noise cut filter leverages digital signal processing to effectively remove interference and background noise, ensuring cleaner sound. The low-cut filter specifically targets and reduces low-frequency noise, such as that generated by, air conditioning units, and vibrations, thereby eliminating unwanted rumble and enhancing overall audio clarity.
These advanced features make the system ideal for environments requiring high-fidelity audio capture, whether for professional recording, broadcasting, or communication purposes. The combination of digital MEMS microphones and sophisticated filtering ensures that the audio remains crisp and intelligible, free from common acoustic disturbances.
Microphone audio input/output
A 3.5 mm mini jack (monaural) is provided as an external microphone input terminal on the microphone side, and a 3.5 mm mini jack (stereo) on the receiver side serves as an audio output terminal. In addition to sound acquisition using a stereo-compatible lavalier microphone, output to devices not equipped with a Multi Interface (MI) Shoe is also possible.
Clip-On Transmitter
- Noise cut filter, low-cut filter
- Three attenuation settings: 0, 10, or 20 dB
- 3.5mm TRS jack for external microphone input
Battery Life
- Each component features an integrated lithium-ion battery.
- The transmitters can operate for six hours at a time on a full charge.
- Use the included charging case to recharge the components when on the go.
Component Design
The LEDs on the receiver and transmitters display the communication status and enable you to keep an eye on battery levels. All the components are built to withstand moisture and dust, making them suitable for outdoor shooting. Moreover, the furry windscreens included help minimize wind noise.
