The Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD G2, designed for Nikon F-mount, offers an extensive and adaptable focal length range, functioning as a 4x zoom that encompasses both telephoto and super telephoto views. This impressive reach is enhanced by a carefully optimized optical configuration, which includes three low dispersion (LD) glass elements aimed at minimizing chromatic aberrations and color fringing across the entire zoom spectrum. Additionally, eBAND and BBAR coatings have been incorporated to mitigate ghosting and flare, particularly in challenging, backlit lighting situations.
In addition to its optical features, the G2 variant of this lens is equipped with a FLEX ZOOM LOCK mechanism, allowing users to secure the zoom position at any focal length to avoid unintended zoom adjustments. It also includes a traditional zoom lock to prevent barrel extension during transport. Designed for handheld shooting, the lens incorporates a Vibration Compensation (VC) system that provides 4.5 stops of effective image stabilization, minimizing the effects of camera shake for clearer images at slower shutter speeds. The ring-type Ultrasonic Silent Drive (USD) autofocus motor ensures rapid and precise focusing, making it ideal for capturing fast-moving subjects, while full-time manual focus is available for enhanced control. Additionally, the lens is constructed to withstand outdoor conditions, featuring moisture-resistant materials and a fluorine-coated front element that protects against dirt, dust, moisture, and smudges that could compromise image quality. The lens's robust metal design includes textured focus and zoom rings, and it comes with a removable, rotating tripod collar that has an Arca-type compatible foot, facilitating stable shooting with tripods and monopods.
- Spanning a versatile, long-reaching range, this tele to super-tele zoom is designed for FX-format Nikon F-mount cameras, and can also be used with DX models where it will provide a 225-900mm equivalent focal length range.
- Three low dispersion elements are incorporated to nearly eliminate both axial and transverse chromatic aberrations and color fringing for increased clarity and color fidelity throughout the zoom range.
- Both eBAND and BBAR coatings have been applied to suppress ghosting and lens flare for improved contrast when working in backlit conditions.
- VC image stabilization helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to 4.5 stops for more effective handheld shooting in difficult lighting conditions. Three separate VC modes are also available to suit various styles of shooting: Mode 1 is a balanced setting for general use, and promotes both a stabilized viewfinder image and stabilized results; Mode 2 is designed exclusively for panning movements; and Mode 3 is optimized to stabilize only during capture without stabilizing the viewfinder image.
- A ring-type USD autofocus motor delivers quick and precise focusing performance to suit working with moving subjects. This motor also affords full-time manual focus control.
- A FLEX ZOOM LOCK mechanism enables you to lock the zoom at any position in order to prevent unwanted zoom extension during use. A conventional zoom lock switch is also featured, which locks the zoom in place at the 150mm position to prevent zoom extension during transportation.
- A sealed, moisture-resistant construction benefits this lens' use in inclement conditions, and a fluorine coating has also been applied to the front lens element to protect against dust, dirt, and smearing.
- Durable metal barrel uses a curved, ergonomic shape for easy handling, and both the zoom and focus rings are textured for improved grip.
- A removable rotating tripod collar features an Arca-type compatible foot and benefits working with the lens atop a tripod or monopod.
- An electromagnetic diaphragm is used for more precise and consistent exposure control, especially when shooting at high continuous shooting rates. Due to this unique design, this lens is only compatible with select Nikon F-mount cameras that support an electromagnetic diaphragm, including the D3100, D3200, D3300, D3400, D5000, D5100, D5200, D5300, D5500, D5600, D7000, D7100, D7200, D7500, D300, D300s, D600, D610, D700, D750, D800, D800E, D810, D810A, D850, D3x, D3s, D4, D4s, Df, D500, and D5 DSLRs.
- Compatible with optional TAP-in Console for fine-tuning select focusing adjustments and for updating lens firmware.
