- Aperture-Priority AE: With AE Finder FN attached and shutter speed dial set to “A”, the camera operates in aperture-priority mode — the camera selects the appropriate shutter speed based on metering.
- Manual Exposure: Manual exposure is still possible; the display format changes depending on mode.
- Shutter-Priority AE: Achievable when paired with a compatible motor drive (e.g., AE Motor Drive FN).
- The AE Finder FN alters the in-finder information layout relative to the standard prism:
- • In aperture-priority AE, shutter speed scale and exposure info appear beneath the image.
- • In manual or non-AE mode, aperture and shutter speed scales appear to the right of the viewfinder image, similar to standard finders.
- It also provides a direct aperture readout window when New FD lenses are mounted.
- Typically a bright pentaprism construction to improve targeting accuracy and ease of use compared with the basic eye-level finder.
