The Nikon Series E 35mm f/2.5 is a compact manual-focus wide-angle prime introduced in 1979 alongside Nikon's affordable Series E camera system. Its 35mm focal length provides a versatile perspective that works particularly well for street photography, documentary work, environmental portraits, and everyday shooting. The f/2.5 maximum aperture provides useful low-light capability while keeping the lens remarkably small and lightweight. Its five-element, five-group optical design and seven-blade diaphragm give it the distinctive rendering associated with Nikon's classic manual-focus lenses. With a minimum focusing distance of just 30cm, it can also be used effectively for closer subjects. Weighing only about 150g and using a 52mm filter thread, the Series E 35mm f/2.5 is an excellent compact vintage lens for both Nikon film cameras and adapted digital cameras.
