This second-generation model features a recycling time of 0.01-0.9 seconds, ensuring both speed and dependability while incorporating significant enhancements. The FJ400 II boasts a redesigned structure that includes a 30W bi-color LED modeling light and a full-color OLED touchscreen, facilitating straightforward and intuitive control. Additional noteworthy features include flash durations with a Freeze mode and a Creative Mask option, which contribute to improved efficiency. Users will also appreciate the versatile AC/DC power capabilities provided by the included interchangeable FJ Pro battery, which allows for up to 550 full-power flashes per charge. Weighing only 5.3 lbs, the FJ400 II is a lightweight and efficient strobe lighting solution, ideal for portability.

Power & Performance

The FJ400 II features a versatile 9-stop power range (1.56 - 400Ws) with adjustments available in 0.1 and 1.0 increments, making it suitable for various shooting scenarios. In Freeze mode, the flash head offers a peak action-stopping duration of 1/24,000 seconds and can achieve up to 50 frames per second, depending on the camera and power settings. It also supports high-speed sync up to 1/8000 second, along with both front and rear curtain sync options. Additionally, users can modify flash exposure compensation within a range of -3 to +3 EV. The FJ400 II is designed for both studio environments and on-location photography.

Creative Mask Mode

Alongside the fundamental manual and TTL flash modes, there are several useful settings, including the Westcott Creative Mask feature, which is particularly beneficial for high-volume and fast-paced photography sessions. This feature allows photographers to generate as many as six different lighting combinations without the need to reposition the fixtures. The flash head has an integrated 31-channel, 16-group, 2.4 GHz wireless radio frequency with a range of 328'. The wireless system prevents interference with other photographers or to shoot several individual setups.

Interchangeable Batteries

The FJ400 II is equipped with a robust, detachable 29.6V, 2500mAh AC/DC lithium-ion battery, providing 550 full-power flashes and thousands of low-power flashes after a 1.5-hour charge. The FJ Pro battery that comes with the unit features LED status indicators to inform users of the remaining charge. Additionally, users have the option to purchase the FJ ProMax battery, which offers a higher capacity and can deliver up to 1000 flashes at full power. The FJ400 II shares battery compatibility with the FJ800 unit, eliminating the necessity for multiple power sources, while its convenient AC trickle-charge function ensures consistent performance during prolonged use.

30W Bi-Color LED Modeling Light

An upgraded 30W LED modeling light is employed with bi-color adjustability from 2700 to 6500K, which allows easy framing and composition.

Mounting & Firmware Updates

This monolight has a Bowens S front and comes with a 5/8" tilting bracket to mount on separately available light stands, as well as a 9mm umbrella receptacle. Also, a USB-C port is present for firmware updates.

Essential Accessories

The FJ400 II ships with a magnetic 5.5" reflector with a gel set (CTO, 1/2-CTO, window green, and diffusion). An insert is also included to allow use of optional Westcott's Rapid Box Switch softboxes. A carry case is provided for storage and transport.
