Content creators, podcasters, streamers, and musicians will find it remarkably simple to capture and stream high-quality audio with the Zoom UAC-232. This device marks the company's inaugural dedicated 2-in / 2-out audio interface, featuring 32-bit float recording, professional-grade preamps, and user-friendly mixing controls. The UAC-232 employs dual AD converters and 32-bit float / 192 kHz technology, ensuring recordings are free from clipping and low in noise, regardless of the performance's volume fluctuations. This capability not only preserves takes that might otherwise be compromised by volume changes but also allows creators to concentrate on their original content without the burden of adjusting gain levels.
The UAC-232 features a compact design that facilitates easy transportation and placement in various locations. It can be configured for vertical or horizontal use, or it can be mounted to a microphone stand using the provided hook-and-loop straps. The device is powered through a connection to your computer or, when used with a Lightning-enabled iOS device, it may require an external USB-C power source, which is sold separately.
Compatibility
Connect the UAC-232 through USB-C for recording and streaming in 32-bit float on a Windows or Mac computer utilizing software such as Cubase, Pro Tools, OBS, and others. For iOS devices, record and stream in 24-bit using applications like GarageBand, YouTube, and Instagram.
32-Bit Float: No Need to Set Gain
The 32-bit floating-point format is particularly suited for content creators and reporters working in field conditions, as well as for documentary filmmakers who are documenting singular occurrences characterized by varying volume levels that may only be captured a single time.
Zoom's Finest Preamps
The UAC-232 features two low-noise preamplifiers, comparable to those utilized in the company’s professional F-Series recorders, renowned for producing clear and precise recordings regardless of the microphone or instrument used. The device includes two XLR-1/4" combo inputs, which offer switchable 48V phantom power for condenser microphones, allowing for the acceptance of microphone, instrument, and line-level signals. Additionally, the Hi-Z option can be activated for direct guitar recording to your computer.
Main Outputs with Volume Knob
The rear panel features two 1/4" balanced line outputs, while a volume control knob located on the front panel allows for audio playback through studio monitors.
Powerful Headphone Output
The front panel features a 100mW headphone output and a volume control, allowing for clear and powerful monitoring. The headphone amplifier provides sufficient power to accommodate even the most challenging headphones, ensuring distortion-free performance.
Mix Control Software with Music Mode and Streaming Mode
Upon connecting the UAC-232 to your Windows or Mac computer, or iOS device, launch the Mix Control software, which is available for free download separately, to finalize your setup. Choose between Music Mode or Streaming Mode. In Music Mode, the inputs will be routed individually to your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) for recording purposes. Most DAWs support 32-bit float recording, including Pro Tools, Ableton, Cubase, among others. Alternatively, by selecting Streaming Mode, both inputs will be merged into a single signal, allowing for seamless audio routing for streaming on platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, or Facebook using software like OBS.
Loopback Function
To incorporate audio from a web browser or music player into your stream or recording, you may enable Loopback. This feature allows you to merge the input audio with the playback from your computer, subsequently routing it back to your Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). It is ideal for integrating background music into your stream or performing live vocals alongside an instrumental track.
Latency-Free Monitoring
Utilize the Direct Monitor Switch to transmit input signals directly to your headphones, simultaneously directing the same signals to your digital audio workstation (DAW) or streaming software. The Mix Control feature enables you to modify the volume and pan settings for your direct monitor feed.
5-Pin MIDI Interface
The 5-pin MIDI in/out enables you to connect to external MIDI gear such as drum machines, synths, and keyboards.
