The Canon EOS R50 V Mirrorless Camera presents a compact interchangeable lens solution tailored for creators and vloggers. It enhances video production with UHD 4K60p recording, a vertical tripod mount, and various video-centric features derived from the Cinema EOS series, all housed in a streamlined, brick-shaped design aimed at improving video content creation.

V-Series Enhancements

The newly redesigned body features a front record button in addition to the vertical orientation mounting point, enhancing and streamlining the production workflow. It now supports cropped UHD 4K video recording at 60 fps, along with Slow and Fast modes that provide creative flexibility in adjusting the video frame rate and playback speed. The Dual Pixel CMOS AF II tracking system has been upgraded to include subject recognition algorithms from the R5 Mark II, which encompass Register People Priority as well as automatic detection for people, animals, and vehicles. 

Furthermore, it incorporates advanced video functionalities from the Cinema EOS series, such as Canon Log 3, HLG, PQ, 709 Recording, False Color, and Zebras. The device also offers Automatic Exposure and Scene modes, along with Movie presets like Close-up Demo, Smooth Skin, and Movie IS, in addition to various color filters. The multi-function accessory shoe enables LPCM 24-bit, four-channel audio recording with an external microphone and is also compatible with external flash units for still photography. To enhance live audience engagement, it provides four distinct built-in live streaming options: UVC via USB connection, Live Switcher mobile streaming for multi-camera configurations, HDMI streaming, and Camera Connect streaming through the app.

Equipped with a robust 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor and the DIGIC X image processor, the R50 V produces high-resolution images with vibrant and precise colors. This camera is engineered to perform well in diverse lighting environments, featuring a versatile ISO range of 100-32000, which can be extended to ISO 51200. It supports 6K oversampled UHD 4K video recording at 30 frames per second, utilizing the full sensor width, as well as Full HD 1080p at 120 frames per second for slow-motion playback. The DIGIC X image processor excels in handling high-speed bursts and high-resolution 4K video, enabling continuous shooting at up to 15 frames per second through its silent electronic shutter.

Enhanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II

Equipped with 651 high-precision autofocus zones, the sophisticated Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system delivers rapid and precise focusing capabilities. This phase-detection focusing mechanism enhances subject detection and tracking, intelligently identifying individuals, animals, and vehicles. It automatically locks onto these subjects, ensuring sharp focus is maintained during continuous shooting and video recording.

3.0" Vari-Angle Touchscreen LCD

A sizable 3.0-inch, 1.04 million-dot vari-angle touchscreen offers an intuitive interface for managing focus points, navigating through menus, and reviewing images. This display is designed with a vari-angle feature, facilitating usability when capturing images from both high and low perspectives. Additionally, when shooting in a vertical orientation, the information display and playback settings can be adjusted accordingly, with an automatic level display option available during recording.

Flexible Connectivity

• Wired and wireless connectivity options provide various methods for transferring photos and videos, livestreaming, and remotely controlling the camera. The camera is equipped with a USB-C port, a micro-HDMI port, and a microphone port for video recording.
