26.1MP APS-C X-Trans BSI CMOS 4 Sensor and X-Processor 5
The X-S20 integrates the adaptable and reliable APS-C-format 26.1MP X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor with the X-Processor 5, enabling the camera to deliver smooth tones and colors with enhanced speed over extended periods. Its enhanced low-light capabilities, along with a broad native sensitivity range of ISO 160-12800, are further augmented by in-body image stabilization. As an X-Trans sensor, it employs a randomized pixel arrangement, which significantly enhances image quality and sharpness by eliminating the optical low-pass filter. Compared to traditional pixel configurations, the X-Trans design more accurately reflects the organic characteristics of film, resulting in rich colors and smooth tonal transitions while minimizing moiré and aliasing effects. The continuous shooting performance reaches an impressive peak of 30 fps in a cropped mode and 20 fps in an uncropped mode using the electronic shutter, alongside a 1.25x crop and full-resolution shooting rate of 8 fps with the mechanical shutter.
6K, 4K, and Full HD Video Recording
The X-S20 presents a comprehensive range of video functionalities, featuring internal 6K recording capabilities at a maximum of 30 frames per second, as well as Full HD recording at rates of up to 240 frames per second for exceptional slow-motion effects. The performance of the X-Processor 5 significantly enhances video quality by facilitating rapid read speeds during video capture and minimizing rolling shutter distortion when capturing dynamic subjects. Additionally, the inclusion of a micro-HDMI port allows for 12-bit 4:2:2 recording to an external recorder, thereby elevating the overall quality. The camera is also equipped with a 3.5mm microphone jack for advanced audio recording and a separate 3.5mm headphone jack for audio monitoring purposes.
User-Friendly Video Modes
The X-S20 is equipped with a variety of shooting modes designed to meet diverse requirements. The newly introduced Vlog mode, prominently featured on the camera's mode dial, facilitates straightforward adjustments of camera settings via the touchscreen while capturing videos. In Product Priority mode, the focus seamlessly shifts from your face to the subject in front, making it particularly suitable for product demonstrations or unboxing videos. The Background Defocus mode enables users to easily blur the background, creating a cinematic effect with just a simple touch. Furthermore, a 1080 LP mode has been incorporated to reduce the camera's workload during prolonged recording at 50p or 59.94p, utilizing a 1.29x crop that lessens the demands on the processor, allowing for 32 minutes of recording in temperatures of 104°F, or 78 minutes when using the FAN-001.
Subject-detection autofocus
Driven by the X-Processor 5 and advanced Deep-Learning AI Technology, the subject-detection autofocus (AF) system effectively tracks and identifies human faces and eyes, as well as a diverse array of subjects including animals, birds, vehicles, and drones. The X-S20 features an enhanced autofocus prediction algorithm that guarantees stable focusing, even when photographing subjects in continuous motion, which is especially evident in Zone AF and low-contrast environments. To capture every important moment, the camera's AUTO mode integrates autofocus with subject detection, ensuring clarity and sharpness, thus enabling you to compose and create with assurance.
Film Simulation Modes
Leveraging FUJIFILM's extensive legacy in traditional film photography, the X-S20 incorporates a variety of Film Simulation modes that replicate the aesthetic qualities of several of FUJIFILM's renowned film stocks, such as Provia, Velvia, Astia, Classic Chrome, Classic Neg, PRO Neg, Eterna, Eterna Bleach Bypass, Acros, B&W, and Sepia. Beyond the emulation of specific film types, the camera also features a Grain Effect mode designed to recreate the appearance of vintage film photographs, characterized by an organic texture that becomes particularly evident in printed formats. Additionally, the Color Chrome and Color Chrome Blue effects enhance color depth, tonal response, and gradation, resulting in more vibrant saturation.
