Gitzo Systematic Series 5 Carbon Fiber Rapid Center Column
The Gitzo GS5512S Systematic Series 5 Carbon Fiber Rapid Center Column is designed for use with Series 5 6x tripods in the Systematic line. Since these tripods accept interchangeable center columns, this compact column can be used to take full advantage of the variable leg spread on these units, so that you're not inhibited by the length of the column as to how low you can go. The carbon fiber tubing is rigid and resistant to torsion. It's also lighter than aluminum. The wide-diameter tubing of this column maintains the strength of a Systematic tripod at all heights. The rapid column slides freely and quickly in the tripod shoulder - it's locked and unlocked via a simple twist mechanism similar to Gitzo tripod legs, offering the same strength and solid locking under heavy loads. This column also features updated components including a much-improved Power Disc (with head locking screws) and a retractable hook for counterweights. The column is compatible with the safety catch feature of the updated Systematic range, offering secure, accident-proof support, even during changeovers of center components.
