The DX-format 20.9MP CMOS sensor is integrated with the EXPEED 6 image processor, resulting in a versatile combination of high sensitivity, refined image quality, and rapid overall performance. With native sensitivity values ranging from ISO 100 to 51200, this system is capable of functioning effectively in a wide variety of lighting environments, and it can be extended to ISO 204800 for exceptionally low-light situations. Furthermore, the EXPEED 6 processor significantly enhances the speed of the camera system, enabling a maximum continuous shooting rate of 11 frames per second at full resolution, as well as 30 frames per second at 8MP.

In addition to its imaging capabilities, the sensor features a 209-point hybrid autofocus system that employs both phase-detection and contrast-detection techniques to swiftly and accurately achieve focus for still images and video.
