Versatile Lens Construction

The lens is equipped with an assignable AFL button that allows for custom functions, in addition to a focus mode switch and an aperture ring lock. The aperture ring can be adjusted from a clicked to a declicked setting, facilitating smooth video recording. A coating that repels water and oil on the front lens element enables shooting in challenging outdoor conditions, while the dust- and splash-resistant design safeguards the internal components. A removable tripod socket, compatible with Arca-type clamps, is included to enhance stability given the lens's weight. The tripod socket can be substituted with the provided protective cover.

Complex Optical Design

Sigma integrates two aspherical elements along with four F Low Dispersion (FLD) elements to guarantee clarity from wide open at f/1.4 throughout the entire aperture range. In total, there are 17 elements organized into 13 groups, complemented by a 13-blade rounded diaphragm, which produces stunning circular bokeh while reducing vignetting and color bleeding, even at the peripheries. To enhance backlight resistance, Sigma employs its Super Multi-Layer Coating, effectively minimizing the risk of lens flare and ghosting.

Powerful Focusing System

No longer limited to photography, the lens components have been enhanced to minimize focus breathing, establishing it as an excellent option for professional video applications. It is equipped with Sigma's dual HLA (High-Response Linear Actuator) focusing system, which ensures rapid and silent autofocusing across the complete telephoto focusing spectrum, enabling reliable capture of fast-moving subjects.
