Enhancing one of the most adaptable lenses in Sigma's collection, the 35mm f/1.4 DG II Art presents a more compact, lighter, and optically enhanced revision of their traditional wide-angle prime lens. This second version lens features a significantly more portable design, along with updated optics, a new AAC coating, and enhanced focusing capabilities, making this versatile lens even more suitable for various scenarios and creators.

Friendly Focal Length, Fast Design

The 35mm focal length is regarded as one of the most adaptable single focal lengths on the market. It provides a standard wide-angle perspective, making it ideal for a diverse array of subjects, including landscapes, portraits, and street photography. In addition, with its impressive f/1.4 maximum aperture, this lens performs exceptionally well in various lighting situations. Furthermore, its rapid design facilitates the creation of a shallow depth of field, allowing for selective focus effects.

Evolved Optics and Bokeh

The second-generation 35mm f/1.4 showcases a completely redesigned optical configuration that delivers enhanced resolution and superior clarity compared to its predecessor. The new lens design integrates four aspherical elements along with two SLD elements to mitigate various spherical and chromatic aberrations, resulting in high sharpness, minimal distortion, and precise color reproduction.

By addressing chromatic aberrations, this design also enhances the quality of bokeh, making it cleaner and smoother. Furthermore, an 11-blade rounded diaphragm ensures that out-of-focus highlights remain rounded, contributing to an overall clean and natural image quality. Additionally, this lens is equipped with a newly developed AAC (Advanced Amorphous Coating), which features a low-refractive-index amorphous layer that significantly diminishes flare, surface reflections, and ghosting, thereby providing remarkable contrast and color fidelity.

Dual HLA-Driven AF

The lens is designed with a blend of high-speed, nimble focusing capabilities and enhanced optics, making it ideal for a wide range of applications, from still photography to dynamic videography. A powerful dual HLA (High-response Linear Actuator) facilitates swift movement of the focusing group, enabling quick focus transitions and precise tracking of fast-moving subjects. The floating focus system ensures that sharpness remains consistent across the entire focusing range, from 11 inches to infinity. Additionally, the revised optical design and strategically optimized placement of the focus group contribute to minimizing focus breathing, thereby maintaining a steady angle of view during focus adjustments, which aids in achieving smooth and natural focus pulls in video recordings.

Portable Design, Updated Operability

• Thanks to more efficient mechanical and optical designs, this version II lens is 14% smaller and 20% lighter than its predecessor—this lens is 3.75" long and weighs 1.2 lb, compared to the previous-generation lens that is 4.4" long and weighs 1.4 lb.
