Designed specifically for hybrid shooters, the Sony E 10-20mm f/4 PZ G is a lightweight and adaptable ultra-wide-angle APS-C zoom lens that perfectly caters to the requirements of vlogging and content creation. With its Power Zoom feature, user-friendly operation, and superior optical performance, this compact lens is ideal for everyday shooting scenarios. Additionally, the enhanced autofocus capabilities ensure it meets the demands of high-quality video production.
Tailored for Video Production and Vlogging
Designed specifically for vlogging, this lens boasts several key features that enhance video recording capabilities, user-friendliness, and adaptability: The electronically controlled internal Power Zoom mechanism allows for seamless zooming during recordings, with control options available on the lens body through either the zoom lever or zoom ring, as well as from compatible camera bodies. The internal zoom and focus design ensures that the lens length remains consistent during use, minimizing shifts in the center of gravity, which improves stability when attached to a handheld gimbal. The Linear AF system operates quietly and smoothly, providing support for Linear Response MF, which facilitates a more intuitive manual focusing experience. Additionally, the Smooth Motion Optics (SMO) technology effectively reduces focus breathing, ensuring compositional integrity when adjusting focus. This lens is also compatible with the Breathing Compensation feature found in select Alpha camera models.
G Series Optics
The ultra-wide-angle zoom lens provides a flexible focal length range equivalent to 15-30mm, effectively balancing the requirements for both wide-angle handheld vlogging and more focused, everyday recording. Additionally, the constant f/4 maximum aperture ensures uniform brightness across the entire zoom range while maintaining a compact form factor. The inclusion of three aspherical elements enhances sharpness and minimizes distortion and spherical aberrations. Furthermore, two ED elements enhance clarity and color fidelity by mitigating chromatic aberrations. An additional ED aspherical element plays a crucial role in correcting various aberrations, thereby elevating overall image quality. The circular diaphragm also contributes to a smooth and aesthetically pleasing bokeh effect.
Refined Focusing Performance
The Linear Motor system employs two distinct motors to deliver rapid, silent, and accurate autofocus and tracking capabilities. This configuration enhances the natural and intuitive Linear Response manual focus control, complemented by an AF/MF switch conveniently positioned on the lens barrel for swift transitions between focus modes. The internal focusing mechanism ensures a more responsive focusing experience while maintaining a consistent lens length throughout its operation. Ideal for close-up photography, the minimum focusing distance at the 10mm setting is 5.1 inches, and at the 20mm setting, it is 6.7 inches, achieving a maximum magnification of 0.18x; these close-up distances are attainable solely through manual focus. In contrast, when utilizing autofocus, the minimum focusing distance extends to 7.9 inches, with a maximum magnification of 0.14x.
Lightweight Design, Intuitive Handling
The 10-20mm f/4 lens emphasizes compactness and features a lightweight construction while delivering remarkable optical performance alongside a consistent maximum aperture of f/4. This lens is designed to be weather-sealed and incorporates an intuitive layout for effortless handling, making it an excellent choice for hybrid shooters and content creators seeking a versatile wide-angle option. Weighing only 6.3 oz and measuring 2.2" in length, it is particularly suited for daily handheld use and travel purposes. Its dust- and moisture-resistant design allows for operation in challenging weather conditions. Users can easily adjust the focal length using either the integrated Power Zoom lever on the lens barrel or the dedicated zoom ring. Additionally, when paired with select Sony cameras, the Power Zoom functionality can be accessed through on-camera controls. For certain Alpha cameras, the direction of the zoom ring rotation can also be modified. Furthermore, remote zoom control is achievable through the optional GP-VPT2BT Wireless Shooting Grip or a connected smartphone.
